On arrival at Bagdogra Airport, take a scenic drive to Gangtok (5412 Ft, 5Hrs from Bagdogra Airport). Check-in and spend the night at the hotel.
Today, enjoy a full-day excursion to Tshangu Lake (12400Ft, 3Hrs from Gangtok) and Baba Mandir (13100Ft / 1Hr from Tshangu Lake). The cool water of Tshangu Lake is perfectly attuned with the scenic beauty around. Drive back to Gangtok for the night.
Note: Incase of Landslide or due to any other reasons if Tshangu Lake is closed then an alternate sightseeing will be provided
One can opt for Nathula Excursion by paying a supplement cost which varies from month to month. Organising the permit in the last moment is not possible, and a clear window of 72 Hrs with proper documents is required to process the permit. Transfer from Gangtok to Lachung (8000 Ft / 2439 Mtrs, 124 Kms / 05 ½ to 06 ½ Hrs). On the way, visit Tashi viewpoint and seven sister’s waterfall.
Today, take an excursion to Chopta valley and Gorudongmar (17800 Ft / 5427 Mtrs) then transfer to Lachung (8000 Ft / 2439 Mtrs, 60 Kms / 03 to 04 Hrs).
Gorudongmar (17800 Ft / 5427 Mtrs, 70 Kms / 04 to 05 Hrs. from Lichens). This is a journey one cannot forget. The day starts early at 5 am. As you journey upwards, the morning sun rays creates a spectacular view of the snow peaks, which looks like mountains made of Gold. From Lachen, one travels to Thangu (13000 Ft / 3963 Mtrs, 30 Kms / 02 to 2.5 Hrs. from Lachen), which is a steep ascent. The only halt is at Thangu, for stretching and acclimatization. Here you have a family kitchen, which can serve you tea, bread and butter and Maggi on direct payment. You get to sit around the earthen furnace and experience the mountain lifestyle. A further drive reaches to the virgin and uninhabited land of Chopta Valley (13500 Ft / 4116 Mtrs, 4 Kms / 30 to 45 min from Thangu). The valley is rich with Alpine vegetation. From here till Gorudongmar, it is mostly flat land with mountains and army bunkers on all sides. This is a high altitude desert, stony and dusty with little vegetation. In winters, Gorudongmar Lake is frozen except for one corner, which is considered to be very sacred.
In the morning, proceed on a half-day excursion to Yumthang Valley (11800 Ft / 3598 Mtrs, 25 Kms / 1 ½ Hrs one way). The soaring snow-capped peaks and herds of wandering yaks make Yumthang a Himalayan paradise. The valley is also known for its hot spring. Although the water is quite dirty, many locals from the area visit to get themselves soaked and cured.
Known as zero point (15300 Ft / 4665 Mtrs, 24 Kms / 1.5 to 2 Hrs. from Yumthang one way), Yumesamdong lies beyond Yumthang. You can take the Yumesamdong excursion by paying a supplement cost. The journey from Yumthang trudges up through the rugged mountain road, and as you drive, the sweet fragrance of Ezilia permeates the air.
After breakfast transfer to Gangtok (5412 Ft / 1650 Mtrs, 124 Kms / 05 ½ to 06 ½ Hrs).
Take for a full-day sightseeing tour, covering Rumtek Monastery, Jhakri Water Fall, Do-rul Chhorten, Research Institute of Tibetology (Closed on Sunday), Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom (Closed on Sunday) and the Flower Show.
Transfer to Darjeeling (6710 Ft / 2046 Mtrs, 115 Kms / 05 to 06 Hrs).
In the morning, take a tour to Tiger Hills (8482 Ft / 2586 Mtrs at around 4 AM) to view sunrise over Kanchendzonga Peak. On the way back, visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. After breakfast, go for a half-day sightseeing tour, covering the Japanese Temple, Peace Pagoda, Pad Maja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Darjeeling Ropeway, Tenzing and Gumbo Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center (Closed on Sunday) and a panoramic view of a tea estate.
Transfer to NJP Railway Station / (IXB) Bag Dogra Airport, (413 Ft / 126 Mtrs, 100 Kms / 03 to 04 Hrs) for onward connection / journey.
